Three dogs in a forest setting with people around

One Leash, Every Walk - Multi-Function Dog Leash Guide

Multi-Function Dog Leash Guide

One Leash, Every Walk

A multi-function dog leash is built for the way real walks change: hand-held on busy sidewalks, crossbody through daily routines, waist-worn on longer movement, and looped for short supervised pauses.

Most leashes do one thing. You hold one end, your dog wears the other, and that is the whole arrangement. It works — until you are halfway through a trail and wish both hands were free, or you are running a quick errand and the leash in your hand feels like one too many things to manage.

A multi-function leash is built around a different idea. Instead of one fixed way to use it, it adapts to what you are doing. Hand-held on a busy sidewalk. Crossbody on a relaxed walk to the coffee shop. Worn around your waist on a longer trail. Looped around a post for a supervised pause when you need both hands free.

That is the thinking behind the Daily Step Leash and the Trail Dash Leash. Not more gear — just gear that keeps up.

Four Ways to Use It

Made for more than one kind of walk.

From closer control to hands-free movement, each mode is designed for a different part of your day with your dog.

Hand-held dog leash on a walk

01 / Hand-Held

For close control when you need it.

This is where most walks start. The leash in your hand, your dog at your side, and a setup that gives you a direct response when the environment gets busy. Hand-held mode is the right choice for sidewalks, vet visits, training moments, and places where your dog needs to stay close.

Crossbody dog leash mode

02 / Crossbody

For hands-free ease through daily routines.

Worn across the body, the leash stays connected to your dog while your hands are free for a bag, a phone, or a coffee. Crossbody mode works best in calm environments where your dog is comfortable walking near you. It is less about doing more, and more about moving with less fuss.

Waist-worn hands-free dog leash

03 / Waist-Worn

For longer movement with your arms free.

For days when you want to move, the leash fastens around your waist and your arms stay free. This mode works well for light jogging, longer walks, and open paths where you and your dog have room to find a steady rhythm. For more distance and movement, the Trail Dash Leash is the better fit.

Dog leash tie-out mode

04 / Tie-Out

For short, supervised pauses.

A brief pause, both hands needed, and a solid post or railing nearby. Tie-out mode handles the moment. Loop the leash, click the buckle, and stay close while your dog remains in sight. Use only with a fixed object that can hold your dog comfortably. Tie-out mode is for supervised pauses, not for leaving a dog unattended.

Daily Step or Trail Dash

Choose by your pace.

Both leashes work in all four modes. The difference is where each one feels most at home.

Daily Step Leash

Daily Step Leash

A 5 ft multi-function dog leash built for sidewalks, city blocks, quick errands, and the daily rhythm of closer walks.

Length 5 ft
Best For Daily walks, city routines, closer control, and light hands-free use.
Hardware Lightweight aluminum clip and adjustable magnetic buckle system.
Trail Dash Leash

Trail Dash Leash

A longer multi-function dog leash made for active walks, trail days, and hands-free movement with more range.

Length 7 ft 2 in to 9 ft 2 in with bungee extension.
Best For Longer walks, active movement, trail days, and outdoor use.
Hardware Dual padded handles and an auto-lock aluminum carabiner.

If your days are mostly neighborhood walks with occasional weekend trails, Daily Step is the one to reach for. If your outings regularly involve real distance, active movement, or terrain that asks more of your gear, Trail Dash handles it better.

The Sliding Magnetic Buckle

Switch modes without switching leashes.

The adjustable setup is what makes hand-held, crossbody, waist-worn, and tie-out use possible on the same leash.

A buckle that moves when you mean it to.

The sliding base moves along the webbing so you can adjust the working length of the leash without reclipping anything. We calibrated the webbing thickness to create a deliberate level of friction between the strap and the sliding base, so the position can be adjusted when needed and stay in place once set.

The buckle snaps shut in one motion and is designed to stay closed during normal, intended use. It shares the same 450 lb / 204 kg breaking strength rating as the magnetic buckle used across the Soul and Tail line.

The appeal of a multi-function leash is not really about the number of modes. It is about not having to think too hard about your gear when your day changes shape.

A quick walk becomes a longer one. An errand turns into a stop in the park. A weekend trail starts early and ends late. The leash already clipped to your dog can move with all of it — held, worn, clipped, or looped — without sending you back to the drawer for something different.

Built for every version of your walk.
