It all begins with Hannah, an active Border Collie living with James and Bella, the Founders of Soul and Tail.

Hannah often wears a collar for quick walks, and for hikes, longer walks, or more active days outside, she wears a harness for better safety.

The problem was not choosing the right gear. The problem was getting it on once Hannah already knew she was going out. She would turn toward the door, move around, and wait with the kind of excitement that makes standing still feel impossible.

It was a very ordinary problem to most people with their dogs, but it happened often enough to matter for us. 

Watching Hannah, we noticed something simple. She didn't need to be told the walk was coming. She already knew — from a sound, a movement, a word. The gear was the only part that couldn't keep up with her.

That small, ordinary gap became the reason for everything that followed.
