Frequently Asked Questions
Which leash is best for my dog?
For most days and most dogs, the Daily Step Leash is the one — 5 feet of woven webbing, padded handle, soft enough to coil into a pocket.
If you're heading somewhere with more room and a dog who likes to range, the Trail Dash Leash gives you 7'2" of length with extra stretch up to 9'2'' built in for active outdoor use.
Both work with the rest of the line, so you can mix and match across collars and harnesses.
What's a magnetic buckle, and is it safe?
The magnetic buckle on our leashes shares the same core design as the rest of the Soul and Tail line — the magnet handles alignment, snapping the two halves together on their own, while the mechanical latch does the actual holding. It won't pop open under a pull, and it's rated to 450 lb / 204 kg of breaking strength, well above anything a dog can put on it.
What makes the leash buckle different is the sliding base. Instead of sitting in a fixed position, the buckle moves freely along the webbing, letting you adjust the effective length of the leash and switch between modes on the go. We calibrated the webbing thickness to create just the right amount of friction between the strap and the sliding base — enough that it takes a deliberate push to move it, but once you've set your position, the base stays there until you choose to adjust it again.

What's the difference between the Daily Step Leash and the Trail Dash Leash?
The most immediate difference is length. The Daily Step is 5 feet, sized for city walks, busy sidewalks, and anywhere you want your dog close. The Trail Dash is 7'2" and extends up to 9'2'', giving both of you more room to move on open trails and wider terrain.
Beyond length, the Trail Dash has a bungee section woven into the webbing that absorbs sudden pulls — useful on uneven ground where your dog might lunge or change direction unexpectedly. The Daily Step uses flat webbing throughout. Both the Daily Step Leash and the Trail Dash Leashthe main handle at the end for relaxed walking, and a shorter traffic handle positioned near the clip for moments when you need immediate close control.
The hardware is also different. The clip on the Trail Dash Leash is an aluminum carabiner with a 450 kg breaking strength, built for harder outdoor use. The Daily Step uses an aluminum clip, lighter and sized for everyday walks. Both are anodized and brushed for scratch resistance, corrosion resistance, and to keep the weight down.
Daily Step for the sidewalk. Trail Dash for the open path.
How to switch modes for multi-functional use?
Both leashes work in four configurations: handheld, hands-free at the waist, crossbody over the shoulder, or tied off to something solid for a quick pause. The sliding magnetic buckle is what makes switching between them possible — slide it along the webbing to set your preferred length, then snap it shut.
The Daily Step is the shorter option, best suited for handheld and crossbody use around traffic and crowds. The Trail Dash adds length and a bungee section, so the hands-free and waist-worn modes give both of you more room on the trail.

How do I care for my leash?
Our leashes handle wet conditions well. The jacquard webbing dries quickly and resists mildew, the aluminum hardware is anodized to prevent rust and corrosion, and the stitching is built to handle moisture without breaking down. We wouldn't call any fabric leash fully waterproof, but ours come back from a wet walk or a creek crossing without complaint. After exposure to salt water or heavy mud, a rinse with fresh water is all it usually takes.
For everyday dirt and light marks, a damp cloth or wet wipe is enough. For more stubborn spots, use a soft-bristle brush with a small amount of mild detergent and cool water, work it gently into the affected area, and rinse clean. If you'd like to wash the whole leash, a gentle hand wash in cool water works well.
Avoid bleach and harsh cleaning products. After washing, hang the leash up and let it air dry naturally — keep it away from radiators, heated racks, and direct heat sources, and skip the tumble dryer. The leash dries faster than a harness or collar since there's no padding to hold water, so it's usually ready to go again within a few hours.
